"Dragonflies and Dew"

(Below this image is a poem. I was inspired to write this during the period in which I was studying the dragonflies)

Dragonflies or Fairies?  

Still, so still from dusk to dawn

Motionless until the morn,

Prehistoric; little hue

Drowned in sorrow, drenched in dew,

Shimmering diamonds, wings of lace,

Fairy's body ..... Devil's face!

Clinging clusters gently stir

Waking with the warming air.

Shimmering, trembling, up and gone,

Energised by the morning sun.

Darting, chasing, here and there,

Grace and pace, no time to spare!

Dashing, dazzling, wings of lace,

Fairy's body ..... Devil's face!

Slowly, slowly, one by one

The fairy dust is all but gone!

So, still and silent you must stay

Spellbound 'til the break of day.
